well i finally got the motor in my bike, i didn't even paint it, i still have more work too do to it, i need a battery & flywheel cover & air filter, but its going to have to wait, money is tight this time off year..

Hey Will, thanks for the pics. I think i am going to try and rig up an air filter, try to find on close to that size (less expensive) for the mean time, i rigged up this to use.
You don't have to buy another filter , strip the pleated paper filter from the metal base and replace it with UNI foam filter material . You can RTV the foam to the metal base , lightly oil it ( K&N oil) and reinstall .
i just picked up a good spare motor & coil & carb & a few other little parts for $40.00 .. the best part was getting a good flywheel cover that i needed, the motor turns over just a quick look & so far it needs a kick start shaft, i think it will be worth rebuilding this for a spare..
the man i bought it from was a super nice guy & i told him how bad i needed that flywheel cover, he said he would sell me the hole motor for $35.00 but i said ill give you $40.00 if you could meet me part of the way, he said yes so it was a done deal, well i meet him & got to talking about the cl70 he had & how he put a 125cc motor on it, so i told him about this form & all you great guys helping out one another, so when i got home i sent him a link to this form, i hope he joins & posts up some pictures of his cl70.. this is the best form i have found with a spot just for the cl70 thanks again Nick for the motor & parts.. will
i sold some used parts & was able to get a new battery, but i still have too get it filled with acid, my next part too get it the air filter.. its coming together slow here..
Hey all, I am the guy with the other NC CL70.
It was great to meet Will and talk bikes, etc.
My CL had belonged to a co-worker, and he had not done much with it, so we made a swap. My intention was to rebuild, not restore, with the goal being a ride suitable for everyday commuting (~6 miles). I stripped the frame down totally except the forks, then washed out the accumulated grime of 40 years. The new engine is a 125cc LIFAN. I replaced the controls and wired it enough to have a headlight and tail light. It is now ride-able and even started on the first kick the last time. I have a complete harness for those CT70 clones. It is not plug and play with the controls so it will take some time to get that sorted out.
