PW20HOV Carb Assembly

Post by J ee »

Hi again,
Really appreciate all the posts on the forum - VERY informative & helpful.
Am at carb stage on my 1966 CA95 project. Have poured over the series on Carb Cleaning posted by Smithers (from 2004!!! no less!!)
My confusion is whether there's a jet (or part or widget) that fits in the protrusion that's above the air intake and beside the choke lever.
Here's a picture (from Smither's Carb Cleaning series) – the arrow indicates the protrusion the inside of which is threaded. There does not appears to be anything screwed into it.

Appreciate any comments/suggestions.Thanks.

PW20HOV - Float/Gasket Interference

Post by J ee »

The prior owner said he could never get reliable & controlled revs.
Had a VERY close look at the carb interior and wanted to share the findings which probably explain the prior performance.
Have a look at the gasket float clearance on the LHS vs the RHS (see white arrows):

There’s definite interference on the RHS.

There is a jet that screws into that port. I'm not the carb expert, but it seems that a few variations of the same carb were used on the CA95. Don't get me wrong but it does look like the floats may not be original. Just a huntch
