No, there are no stupid questions about these old bikes.

You will see a tab about 10 oclock that is mounted to the stator. It is directly below a mounting hole at the same location.

On the flywheel you will see an "F" and a "T" close together. Align the "F" and the tab indicator. The timing is adjusted at the breaker point plate.
