Bit the bullet - new "late" muffs
Bit the bullet - new "late" muffs
Four weeks ago to the day, I ordered a set of those "exact replacement" C95 mufflers that have recently appeared on eBay. $318 for the pair delivered to my door. Initial visual inspection reveals what seems to be IMO a nice quality set of muffs. Will advise how they fit once installed, when I re-assemble my '64 (nicknamed Hanford) with the rebuilt top-end. I only see some very minor differences between the originals and these replacements, such as the shape of the top and bottom seams near the exhaust outlet, no drain hole (how's that gonna work?!?), and "Taiwanese" stamping on the front - too bad they couldn't they stamp it on the backside!?!

The original is on the left and the repro is on the right.

KIMG0080 by Steve Steverinomeister, on Flickrgrubsie, Here is an eBay link to the seller that sold me the muffs.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-C95-C92-EXHAUST-MUFFLER-SET-2-PCS-/361311635906?hash=item541fda09c2&vxp=mtr
His price has increased $52 since I purchased them.
Steverinomeiste, The above selller (name is Wichanchai) told me that the muffs are made in Thailand and stamped as Thailand International Standard approved, but I did not ask him who manufatured them. He seemed very willing to share information.
Regards - Dane
