New Member Intro and no Spark!

Per Spokes suggestion I pulled the 14mm bolt and the little bushing was greased and reinstalled on the bolt. I took the bike for its longest test drive since the rebuild, which felt pretty awesome! On the test drive the bike intermittently would slip out of 2nd and I also had a hard time getting it into 1st a few times. Also had 2 instances when shifting from 2nd to 3rd where I made the shift, released the clutch, and the bike just revved like I was in neutral. Are these systomes of a bad shift rod as Spokes mentioned? Clutch related?

I want to move on to paint and chrome but want this bike shifting like it should before I move onto the final phase

On a postive note the bike runs super even with a 250lb monkey riding it

It should be interesting what other members think about your shift problem. I rebuilt a CA95 back in 09. The bike was in a barn for 29 years...with the old oil in it. The engine was seized.

After rebuilding the bike, I could not shift into gear without slightly lifting up on the shifter before making the shift. Try this technique to see if it helps keep the bike in gear.

I replaced the shift shaft. Problem solved. If no other suggestion is offered, replace the shift shaft. You can do this without taking off the engine.

I'll be assembling a 150 engine in next weeks so maybe i'll see the same and can do some research while assembling...

Rode the bike around a few times this weekend focusng on my shifting and it seemed a lttle better, no sure why. It did pop out of second a few times and was hard to put back down in 1st once. Overall I mght live wiith it or keep my eyes peeled for a shift shaft and see what that does. I reallly would like to solve the issue though. The bike has a ton of miles on it 40k so Im sure things could be worn out.

Well, it's summer here in Maine again so I figured I would get back to work on the Benly. It could be my ADD but I tend to get projects 3/4s of the way done and then move onto the next.
Anyways an update from last summer, I rode the bike in primer a bit and have decided that my tranny/shifting issues are liveable. If I get really motivated I may pull the lower case and take a peak, but everything runs so good now and no leaks I may not risk it.

I spent most of September pulling the bike apart AGAIN and doing body work. I have done body work in the past but really took my time and did it right. Sometime around October I dropped the frame and tins off with a friend who painted the bike for me. The bike came out great, and after much debate about painting the bike myself I'm glad I went this route and I'm pumped with the final result.
