Reverse Engineering In Your Garage

Post by Smithers »

Wow I've known and seen these two processes happen in separate environments but now the costs have come down so much you can do everything in one shop... amazing. And of course the first (non military contractor) shop you see with this tech is Jay Lenos!

Watch this link that features Jay Leno and a NextEngine.com rep talking about the reverse and rapid prototyping stages of making parts for his old toys from scratch. http://widgets.nbc.com/o/47f1317f105...a4377d3bfd6c81

I need these tools! :D

Oh and the Next Engine company that makes the scanners is selling them for $2,995 of course. That's pretty cheap considering that you could charge a ton for making parts for people. This could pretty much pay for itself pretty quickly. You would have to do a lot of finish work on curved surfaces that were machined from their models but it would be very close and so fast that it would still save you a TON of time.

Check out the affordable 3D scanners at https://www.nextengine.com/indexSecure.htm
