I'll also give the tape a try....would certainly be better than the bright orange rubber...

Just a bit info after some more trawling....

Looks like the trumpy guys have a similar situation. It appears that a common fix is to use common bathroom silicone!

....some use the high temp auto stuff, but the common stuff does the trick. And they reckon getting the exhaust off after application (so long as its cured) is easy too....

Might be worth a try....I'm thinking of slitting the muffler pipe and using an exhaust clamp as an added bit of stabilising mechanical strength against vibration.

I found that set on eBay. They were in good enough condition to cancel my plans to have them re-plated.
