New head?

My CA95 runs and has good compression, but burns oil.

Would I be correct in assuming it's a valve guide issue?

The head has a few broken fins, so it does have me thinking... is there anyone that offers a good head, all fixed up?

Currently finishing up another project, but wanted to get at least ...

Haha, now I'm riding it around the countryside:

You might want to have a look at the "Big Cert" http://www.timesert.com/html/bigsert.html
Inserts. They are a solid insert (instead of helicoil wire), and they make that size extra-large to replace threading where someone has already drilled it oversized.

If the helicoil on mine fails again, it's ...

Okay, good news:

While the slide is a little worn, it wasn't entirely the problem. The bore on the carb was rather rough and slightly out of round. A little pressure on the outside and the slide would go right in.

So, I carefully cleaned and polished the scratches and pitting out of the bore , as ...

Maybe a little. You need a buffing wheel and gold or green rouge. You "burn" a finish into the aluminum, which gives it a smooth mirror finish. Thus a "machine polish". You can send it to me and I will do it and send it back.

Postage only. LMK

Wow, thanks. Tell you what, I'll pull the slide out ...

No worries. Oh, I forgot to ask, is "machine polishing" some sort of special process, or am I overthinking it?

Any idea where I could find a carb slide?

It's the external throttle. The reason I blame the (carb) slide is that after it sticks, if you push it back, the cable goes slack and pushes back inside the carb.

Feeler: Carb slide?/sticky throttle

Hi, the carb on my '62 (Rounded bowl) tends to stick at WOT when cold. It's not the cable, it's the slide itself. I know the slide is pretty worn (nicks, worn plating), and I've tried to carefully smooth it down without damaging the remaining plating, but it may need replacement.

Any ideas?

Great to see it running! I noticed your Hi/Low switch seems a little temperamental - I found a good flushing with DeOxit has completely fixed that.

However, it never ceases to amaze me what a PO might do to "fix" an item.

My bike had some interesting ideas... the petcock was rebuilt without a proper kit, so the spring loaded pressure plate was replaced with a home made plate held to the petcock body with a screw.

The foot shifter shaft ...

Guy on MopedArmy is selling a CA95 tank

Hey folks, ringing the dinner bell on this gas tank on Moped Army - it's been converted to use a CB125 petcock, but looks like it could use some tidying up before repainting. It's not mine, I'd just rather see someone buy it for a resto than a moped mod.
