Default Quick Tune Up & Firing Roys 1970 Bonneville

According to the guys this bike hasn't been fired in just a few years. It's better to run them every now and then instead of letting them get old and dried up. All that was needed to get this Bonneville up and running was a quick valve adjust, new fuel line, oil change, inflate the tires and fire'er up. It wanted to start on the first kick and the second one was given a healthy stomp and she fired off without a problem. You can thank the electronic ignition for that.

Of course it's best to take off the tank before starting. You don't want to get close to a Triumph tank this nice with any tools.

First order of business, drop fluids, check plugs and carbs.

Can't work on the bike without some cheese and crackers. Mmmmmmm.

The ol' Lucas power.

Interesting Triumph logo punched in the casting behind the engine numbers.

In perfect running order we didn't even have to second guess the brakes or drive chain.

Fuel lines and a last check of the controls up front.

Basically this Bonni is ready to ride with just a tweak of the electronic ignition's plate.

** This picture was the result of two pictures joined together if you are wondering why the fuel tank looks a little strange. **

Ok I have an update for you. No kidding around either. Here is a video of the actual FIRST successful attempt to start up this Triumph after many years of storage:

And once it was warmed up he took it out front for a test run down the street. These Triumphs might look old but they are faster than many people think! These things haul butt. He was lucky he didn't slide out when he whacked open the throttle during this little maneuver:
