Good to hear from you Sam. I do miss the ol' Benly gang. Still messing around with motorbikes here, but 2 months of chemotherapy earlier this year have slowed me a bit. (... but not so much as to stop me from going 110 mph on my Triumph a few weeks ago :D )

Just finished a resto-mod on a Kiev-built ...

Not the answer you're looking for, but I covered the ...

All set for priming - looks good. A lot of work to get to bare metal. Looking forward to the pictures of the painted parts.

Looking forward to putting some miles on my Benly this season.

A few people have found this post from doing an internet search and have asked me for a scanned copy of the operator's manual. It's a big download, but the link is below:

Now, i can tap from the .9 m5 to a .8? Or should I go up a measurement to the next biggest metric screw? I wouldn't recommend retapping M5 JIS threads with M5 ISO threads. The difference in thread pitch would result in overlapping and weaker threads.

It's quite easy to drill out the old threads ...

I experienced the same thing a few years ago, so I thought I'd post a link:

http://www.fourwheelforum.com/showthread.php?t=1836&highlight=thread

There was a switch from the JIS to the ISO standard threads in 1967, which affected the 3, 4, 5 and 12mm sizes. Check out the link above for details ...

Excellent work, as usual - thanks for the pic, Chip. I'm glad you posted the close-up pic of the tank badge ... I was trying to figure out what it was in the other pictures but couldn't tell from the distance. The ammo box saddle bags were a great idea.

I also enjoyed the story about your first ...

Looking great, Chip. I really like those ammo boxes.

Is the shifting issue clutch-related? I need to revisit your recommendation to sand/polish the threaded clutch actuator, since mine is hard to pull.

I forgot ... is this bike getting sold when it's done, or are you starting a Georgia militia?
