I've been following David Mucci's blog, motomucci, for several years now. He's been working on a custom CA95 for this show, and he shows peeks of his project in a recent post.

To the "purists", it may seem a bit painful, since his donor CA95, which he refers to as a Dream 150, had only 78 original miles on it when he pulled it from a garage, originally mistaking it for a CA77 305.

I'm looking forward to seeing his final creation. Mucci is a fan of cafe-style bikes, and has a great eye for the simple beauty in a well-executed design.

Thanks for the post. I'm always looking for ideas. I like the black rims & brake hardware. The seat is creative, but the side cover replacement with a zippered bag is absolutely brilliant.

Agreed Chip as well as the knee panels. Gas shocks are bit of overkill tho...

Thanks BTL for posting the pics. After looking closely at this bike again and reviewing the pics from this guys website, I can assure that any one of us here in the forum could do just as well or better. I looked again at the exhaust pipes...pretty crappy. For kicks, the bike below shows custom straight pipes that sounded great.

I know what you mean about the exhaust pipes. I see a lot of that among the hardcore "cafe" crowd, where the pipes look almost industrial and minimalist. I'm also not a fan of wrapping the pipes, but I know a lot of guys like that look.

Finally getting back to my restore and I find this thread - so inspired. Thanks for posting. I spent hours last night finding every pic I could of this thing. Question: any expert opinion on what exactly those wheels and tires might be? They look slightly larger - perhaps even hit the fork insides on full compression?? I just never liked how the OEM combo sits in the front fender. Something not quite right with the lines. Kicking myself for not going to the show it was at right down the street from here just 2 weeks ago...argh!!

The rims look like aftermarket aluminum type. You can use up to 3.5 x 16 tires on the CA95 & CA160. But be aware that the 3.50 x 16 tire is tricky to mount up into the front & back fender wells.

The most convenient larger size is the 3.25 x 16.

Most tires today are metric, so 80/90 x 16 is your best size tire for these bikes. As far as what tread and brand the tires are on the custom bike, maybe contact the guys website. There are many tread design choices for the 80/90 x 16 metric tire.
