Default firing problem

i have just gottin a 70 model cl 70 scrambler. it only has 2100 mile on it and is in otherwise mint cond new battery, plug. and i made a new harness, all lights and horn work now (but turn signles dont blink? i thnk i need a new relay cause i never found the the old one when i got the bike. ? lol) but here the prob. i get a spark when i break the connection by hand at the pionts but not when i kickstart it. ive moved the pionts back and forth in the limited range but not sure that it is the proper way to adjust it. it seems to me that the tenchin that holds the pionts together is to tight but i dont see a way to adjust that. am i missin something? idk?

that's the first time i have ever heard that about points, are they seated in the starter plate all the way?? you should set the gap buy turning the flywheel in till the points open all the way then set the gap.. i have never had a problem doing it this way..

i would like to see some pictures of your cl70, i just posted up my 1971 cl70 that i am putting back together,
i have a 1970 cl70 roller parts bike, i may part it out when i am done with my build..
