Default Mid Range sputter

I have been trying to work out the kinks on my ca95.

Carb has been cleaned, points adjusted, valves checked etc.

Problem with the bike sputtering and bogging when you open the throttle above 1/3. I tried to adjust the needle clip, but no difference.

Makes me think the main jet is obstructed, but it's clean.

Could this be some sort of ignition timing problem?

Any suggestions would help!

You dont say if it clears above 1/3rd throttle, if it does than the main is probably ok.

I had a few problems recently,

one was stupid and my own fault so check that the spring clip that holds the needle down is above the needle and that you havent put it in first like i did. This allowed the needle to move up causing some random running.

I then had a few odd problems like you describe, eventually although the bike started and idled fine it had no power and only did about 30 mph. Turned out one of the plugs had died. Reckon its worth trying new plugs if you have them.

I have a had some timing problems and frankly the bike seems to go pretty well what ever the timing is tho obviously not a good idea running with it way off.

Here are some of the things that the manual states for Troubleshooting. Some of these probably aren't for your situation. But I just copied and pasted the whole section.

2. Engine does not develop full power
(11 Stand the vehicle on the main stand and rotate the rear wheel by hand when the
gear is set in neutral, if wheel does not turn easily;
1-1. Dragging rear brake-incorrect adjustment
1-2. Damaged wheel bearing
1-3. Too tight drive chain tension. incorrect adjustment
121 Check the tyre air pressure and inflate to the correct amount.
(3) Check the clutch for slip and if it is found slipping;
3-1. Improper adjustment of clut ch
3-2. Worn dutch facing
3-3. Weakened clutch springs
14) Measure the highest revolutions of crankshaft w ith a revolution counter and if the
engine does not develop full revolutions ;
4-1. Choked carbureltor
4-2. Clogged air cleaner
4-3. Insufficient supply of fuel
4- 4. Clogged exhaust box
4- 5. Faulty ignition coil or contact breaker points
4-6. Faulty sea ting o f valve
4-7. Incorrect ignition liming
4- 8. Excess weakness in valve springs
4- 9. Faulty spark plug ; test the spark plug with spark plug tester
151 Check oil level in the crankcase and adjust the level to the specification. Excess
amount of oil results in trouble.
161 Inspect
6-1 .
6-2.
6-3.
6-4 .
6-5.
for excess heating of engine and if found;
Excess carbon deposit in combustion chamber
Inferior grade o f fuel
Slipping clutch
Lean air-fuel mixture ; improper size
Dirty cylinder and cylinder head
jet In carburettor
(7) Check for the engine developing ping or knocking when if is submitted to quick
acceleration or excessive running ot high speed, and if it is so ; The probable causes
are some as No. 161.
