Default Yamaha XT350 Upgrades and Stuff

A friend of mine has always had a Yamaha XT350 but it was in no shape to ride safely. So I've been helping him upgrade things, redo the carb and some other stuff. He's been powder coating some parts as well so I decided to post some pictures and updates since this bike is actually turning out to be quite a nice project.

Step one was ditch the old Cheng Shin knobby tires that it had on it. This was one scary bike to ride on the street with those skins on it. This bike will see more road time than anything especially with the new custom paint job on the fuel tank and the matching custom seat that we had redone for it. These tires will no doubt make the bike MUCH more enjoyable.

Rater for 130mph, WeeEEeEEE!

And the new front tire:

And to put some bling on it we had to try and see how it looked with a Scorpion exhaust system on. This stainless system was designed for a Suzuki Vstrom 650 but we can make it work on this bike with a little work. The muffler uses a larger diameter inlet so we'll have to make a proper bracket to secure it to the frame and then reduce the inlet to match the Yamaha header pipe. This will be fun (uh huh) but it makes the bike much more manly.

And one of the funnest mods to the bike is adding some powdercoating and color to various parts. Here is the original muffler that was pretty discolored and turning grey before it was done in a high-temp powder coating of black.

And here are some other random parts like the skid plate and kickstand. They basically look like new now and having them match the color of the engine is much better on the eyes.
