Default Gas tank rust holes

Spokes I am in the same boat with you. I cleaned my tank up and I can see daylight thru it. I am on tank number two, but I think I can make this one work. By the way I just saw another nice looking tank on ebay, 34.95 right now.

I hear you. The tank I have is a keeper. I will do a slight mod and it will fit. What I do with the bad tanks is cut out the mounts (make sure no gas fumes are present) and cut out the petcock base and toss the tank.

The tank I am keeping has no front mounts.....So I will use the mounts salvaged from the bad tank and tack weld them in. No one will know the better, unless they read this forum LOL!

Oh, the petcock base. Someday when spirit moves me, I will build a modern mount to retrofit a new modern day petcock. The base is my pattern.

I didn't realize how rare a good tank was! I gave my other one away because it needed to be cleaned out inside, but it wasn't rusty.
