Default What's happened to all the Benly's?

3 to 5 years ago there seemed to be a pretty good selection of Benly's to buy at a reasonable price to restore. Maybe it's just me, but there have been far fewer lately and those that are for sale are priced way too high to even think about restoring. The best deal I have seen in a long while in my neck of the woods was for a 65 CA95 basket case for $500.00 on Craigslist. The pics of the bike and parts looked pretty bad. The few others I have seen have asking prices around 2k or better and even those are going to need some serious work.

My favorite line is: "These things are really rare. They are bringing in "Big Money" restored on ebay".

Sigh!

I think commercialization of barn finds like American Pickers, those who break down salvageable bikes for parts and just plain overpricing is the cause. If you want to see some really wacky prices, check out Vespa scooters.
