I've found about 45-55 to be the best cruising speed for this bike in stock form. It wasn't designed for anything more. I'd strongly suggest another bike for highway cruising.
Don't take me wrong when I say it is like asking my 80 year old dad to play NBA hoops or NFL football, but it is. Be nice to her, treat her gently and she won't dump you in traffic at 60 + mph.
You are correct in that the 160 could use another gear(speeds?) but it's about 45 years too late for that. It makes a great local and weekend cruiser for around and in town.
Others may have something else to say but that's my suggestion.
