SOOO I finally broke down and bought a new starter clutch mechanism for the old Honda 250. It's just too unique of an item to pass up so I threw down $75 on Ebay for the ol boy. Basically this part is on the right side of the motorcycle which is rare. Being in this configuration his means that this particular part spins the other direction. It's pretty nice to see a bike with the chain and everything located on the right side. B)

Take a look for yourself. This is the CB72 starter mechanism and magneto side by side with the CA95 assembly. The main shaft hole is obviously larger on the CB72 as well as the direction of the rollers when they slide over to engage:




Here is how worn out the old starter parts were. The caps wore right through from the rollers. You can tell that the previous owner of this bike used the hell out of the starter! It wasn't me! I probably started this thing maybe 15 times at the very most when I was in high school.
