If all you have to do is get it to run jump on it...File the points, bypass the wiring and wire the coils directly, clean the plugs, look at all four carbs...

On a recent 350 twin rebuild I couldn't get the engine to fire..spark gas timing correct usual stuff. Top end came off 4 times. I literally was going to quit bikes.......

I'd sand your errors and then 600-800 the whole...
I'd sand your errors and then 600-800 the whole bike and try for another top coat. After that you can color sand and buff/polish...I think you'll be surprised.
