I've been told from different professionals to run a ZDDP additive in my older engines. They HIGHLY recommend using it in the form of an additive or using an oil that contains it specifically. I was told of an oil product that Castrol makes that is formulated FOR classic engines. Why? Well to put it short the valve lifters and cams in older engines need this for lubrication. If you don't have ZDDP then chances are that the modern dry fuel of today will cause increased wear on your valvetrain. It's simple. I had to educate myself more on the subject since I just rebuilt an MGB 1.8L engine from 1979. It's a high compression engine that also has a coolant system that runs 16lbs from the factory. Yes that's 16lbs compared to around 7 lbs for every other engine in world.

Now if you want to do some reading on the ZDDP subject be my guest. I think it's necessary from what I've learned and been told by other pros so I'm keeping it simple. I'm using it.

There is an EXTREME amount of information about the ZDDP oil component on each one of these pages. Make sure and take a break and rest your eyes everynow and then. Try not to think too hard... it's really a simple subject!

Now while we are on the topic of oil. I found Valvoline to be making some pretty insane claims about how well their synthetic oil protects. This is just nuts --> Valvoline 4x the Protection of Mobile 1 Synthetic?

Now that sounds like some fairytale shit right there!! I'm insulted!
