David from www.Lextreme.com recommended and showed how to replace the starter bolts on the starter in order to ease the changing process. In the event of replacing a starter the factory long bolts must be removed from the rear of the engine. This means that you have to contend with the firewall as well as EGR pipe. In my case I will have an adapter plate (or ring) pressed up between the transmission and the engine. This will protrude out around the seam of the joining components so backing out the starter bolts would require removal of the transmission. Instead I just used Mr. Lextreme's trick and bought $5.01 U.S. worth of hardware to make life much easier.
